Description Dumbo Ear Betta Roundtail The Dumbo Ear Betta – roundtail variety – is bred to showcase the extended  pectoral fins (the “dumbo ears”). The roundtail is bred so that the other fins do not compete with the appearance of the pectoral fins. Rountail dumbo ears are hardy bettas but they can’t fly.  There are many names for the particular betta color patterns but most are variations of blue and/or red colors.
